Applicants who already have a passport appointment are kindly requested to complete the online passport application form before visiting the Consulate. Please upload all required documents listed in the passport section of the website, together with a biometric passport photo.

After completing the application, please print the completed form and bring it, along with the required documents, to the Consulate on the day of your appointment.

The Consulate General of Afghanistan in Bonn serves Afghan nationals residing in the following German states: North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Hessen, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Saarland. If you live in another state, please contact the Afghan Embassy in Berlin or the Consulate General in Munich.
You need: (1) Completed application form, (2) Original Afghan Tazkira verified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or e-Tazkira, (3) Passport-size photo (35×45mm, white background, no glasses), (4) Copy of your German Aufenthaltstitel or Personalausweis (both sides), (5) Previous passport if applicable (or police report if lost). For children under 18: German birth certificate, copies of both parents' Tazkira, and parents' marriage certificate.
A 5-year passport costs €120 and a 10-year passport costs €220. An additional postal fee of €10 applies. Processing takes approximately 3 to 5 months as the passport is produced in Afghanistan and delivered by post. The applicant must visit the Consulate in person for biometric data capture — this cannot be done online or in absentia.

Online appointment booking is currently not available. To register for an appointment at the Consulate General of Afghanistan in Bonn, you must apply in person. Each person must appear personally with a valid identity document (Tazkira or Passport). In case of a family application, one family member must attend with the original identity documents of all family members. Registration on behalf of an absent person is not possible. The jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Afghanistan in Bonn covers the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. For visa services, you may visit during working hours without prior registration.
We provide a full range of consular services: new passport issuance, passport extension/renewal, birth certificates, marriage certificates, celibacy certificates, death certificates, Ghayabi Tazkira (absentee ID), inheritance certificates (Hasr-e-Warasat), power of attorney, identity confirmation, and visa services for travel to Afghanistan.
Yes, all consular services require an in-person visit to the Consulate. No services can be processed online or by post alone. For passport applications, you must visit in person for biometric data capture; after processing (approximately 3–5 months), the passport is mailed to you. For visa services, after in-person processing, your passport is returned by post within 1–2 working weeks.

Each person is allowed only one appointment. Duplicate bookings are not accepted and will be automatically cancelled.

On the day of your appointment, you must bring your original ID card (Tazkira or Passport) for verification.

If your ID does not match the appointment details, you will not be served — regardless of waiting time.

Applications are accepted only during official working hours: Monday to Thursday, 9:00 – 14:00.
